These test are based on the Myers-Briggs Personality Types. Choose one of these to take:
If you are completing this exercise in class, take your time with the tests. You should only visit the sites linked in this post while completing this assignment. After completing this assignment, you should understand the personality types discussed in class a little better. Please take as much time as you need to explore the sites, but do leave yourself about 10 minutes to create your written responses. Remember that for the most part, these tests are for entertainment purposes so be careful about trusting the results.
The BBC has a number of Psychology related quizzes on their site. If you have enough time, take the quiz titled "Spot the Fake Smile". If you finish, find one or two other quizzes that interest you.
It was kind of accurate but not really.
ReplyDeleteI took the big five (traits) personality test. I could agree with the results because all of my score for each one is average.

ReplyDeleteI took the Harry Potter Sorting Hat quiz and I thought it was pretty valid if answered honestly. I think since the houses are well known it might not be as reliable because people might change their answers to get the house they want.
I also took the Star Wars Twin test and I thought it was alright. I thought it wasn't as valid because the questions were very similar and limited. However, if answering honestly it might have a higher reliability.
The non-linguistic test on the big five was very fun and mentally stimulating. I enjoyed the fact that it was totally picture-based. I feel like it was pretty accurate, as it was easier to visualize the answers and choose the best one as opposed to a written test. I feel like it was fairly reliable, as the questions seemed very structured and similar. I also think it was valid, since I believe the results are very true to my personality both as I perceive it and how others like my friends and family do. --A.S.2A
ReplyDeleteThe Harry Potter and visual tests were were really fun. I think that they were probably pretty valid because they involved a large scale. I also think they're probably pretty reliable because a lot of people take them online and I think that I would get the same answer if I took them again. The Myers-Briggs was boring but I think it was probably pretty valid and reliable because I feel like it has a lot of recognition. CCZ 2A
ReplyDeleteI took the Non-Linguistic test. The question the test where about what I would do in a situation, and my results were pretty accurate. I believe this is reliable because it has a good way to understand someone's personality
ReplyDeleteI believe the test was pretty accurate. I took the Harry Potter test, and my Gryffindor and Ravenclaw scores were almost equal. I believe I am more knowledge-focused than courageous, but I do not back down from challenges, so I feel this result was close to the truth. I think that the scale of the results helps the validity of the tests, and I think it is reliable because I would probably get close to, if not the same answer if I took it again at a later date. -BT, 4A
ReplyDeleteThe VisualDNA test was surprising in its accuracy. The characteristics it offered and the descriptions entailed seem to fit very well with how I identify myself. I believe this test is reliable, as I would probably get the same score a few years from now, and I think it is valid, as I believe it gives the results it is testing for. - BT, 4A
ReplyDeleteI took the Harry Potter test and was surprised by its results because they were not what I was expecting or how I would identify myself. But, I understood the reasoning as to why I got placed there. I also took the Oceans test and didn't entirely agree with everything it said

my harry potter test scores made sense to mme, but my big five personality traits did not seem as accurate, i would have scored myself differently.

I took the sorting hat test and the non-linguistic test. I enjoyed taking them, but I always enjoy taking tests like this. It's fun for me to see how things like this would categorize me because it's sort of like getting an outsider's POV.
ReplyDeleteAs for reliability and validity, I felt like the first one I took (the sorting hat test) was reliable but not very valid. I took it twice and got Hufflepuff each time. While I try to be helpful and considerate, I am not so hard-working. I'm not sure about the reliability of the second one because I only took it once, but it seemed relatively accurate. However, it gave me a high extroversion score which I don't believe is accurate. Sure, I'm good in social situations, but that doesn't mean that they don't drain me like they would any other introvert.

I took the Harry Potter sorting hat quiz, the Big Five Test (but prettier), and the Non-Linguistic test. I found the Harry Potter test to be pretty accurate! It was fun, although I do question the validity of this test, because if someone wished to they could sway their answers to better match the house they want to get. For the Big Five test, it did not seem to match me as accurately. It was a bit of a longer test and I wanted to get through it faster. The reliability seemed fine but the validity may have issues when matching to others. Finally, the Non-Linguistic test. It was an okay experience, but it seemed to resemble likeness to a buzzfeed quiz, making it more.... unreliable? It seemed like it wouldn't seriously describe me and my personality, so I question the validity of this test. HAKM - 2B
ReplyDeleteI took the Harry Potter buzzfeed quiz. After taking it, I was very surprised and confused. The results were accurate, as I see myslef as hard working and friendly, but it is a very general statement that many people fit under. I think that the quiz is reliable and that I will get the same thing over and over again, but I do not think that it is valid. From previous experience, I have taken many quizzes and always gotten Hufflepuff as my house, however, this time I got Ravenclaw. Due to these results, I was very surprised and wondered if I had changed over the past few months.
ReplyDeleteI thought the quizzes were cool but I don't think either of them were super accurate. I think it would be very easy to chose what you want to be rather than picking what you actually are because the questions are very obvious on what they are trying to calculate. I liked the picture quiz more because I felt easier to answer
ReplyDeleteI took the Big Five test and the non-linguistic test. I found these quite accurate and reliable but there is a level of bias due to the uncertainty that comes with rating oneself. Additionally, it was very easy to see how your choices would affect the level of extroversion, openness, etc. Therefore, this affected how I decided on what pictures to choose and what numbers to give myself.
ReplyDeleteI took the Big Five personality test. The test asked to rank myself on a scale of 1 to 10 on if I agreed that word described me or not. Over the results put most of my results in the average range which I expected. However my agreeableness was high which again I did not find surprising. I would say this test is valid because it does measure what it sets out to measure but I am not sure how reliable it is because I would use different numbers every time depending on different situations.

ReplyDeleteTaking the big 5 test gave me results I expected, but every description is vague and universal and really good at not hurting peoples feelings. I think the big 5 test is both reliable and valid, but having 5 traits that every person shares makes it difficult to prove distinct personality types; we generally experience the same feelings and thoughts, although to differing degrees. We also subconsciously choose which of our traits we wish to report to these types of tests.
I took the Harry Potter quiz and the Big Five personality test. I don't think either were particularly accurate because the information didn't differ too much from Mr. Turner's personal handwriting evaluation. I got higher scores in extroversion than I think are accurate. When taking these quizzes, I respond that I enjoy being around people, but there are rarely questions about how much time I enjoy spending alone, which would be the kind of questions that would give me a more introverted score.

The personality tests were fun, and I saw that the big five personalty test had more criticisms than the myers briggs. Ths seems more valid to me since it is genuinely testing for these traits instead of trying to flatter the test taker. It might not be too reliable though, because rating on a scale in very subjective and different people could have differing opinions on how drastically the scale measures the trait. I don't think I would need a test to know where I fall on the big 5 test though, since the traits are so straightforward.
